Michael Reed PhD is the Principal Psychologist at 'Reed Consultancy Services'. Michael has been practising as a clinical social worker, consultant psychologist and psychotherapist for over 35 years. He is a Registered Psychologist and Authorised Supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia as well as an Accredited Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers.

Michael has worked with individuals, couples, families, groups and communities across a variety of public and private health care, educational and organisational settings. Michael was in part-time private practice for over 15 years before commencing full-time private practice in 1998. Prior to commencing full-time private practice Michael held a number of senior clinical, research and consultancy positions at The Children's Hospital (Camperdown and Westmead),  Westmead Hospital and the Department of Children and Adolescent Psychiatry, The Royal North Shore Hospital.

Michael was awarded a PhD by the Faculty of Medicine (Psychiatry), University of Sydney in 1995.

Michael is on the teaching/training faculty of a number of private counselling / psychotherapy institutes across Australia and has taught extensively in the areas of Gestalt Therapy, Relational and Family Therapy, Human Development, Adolescent Health and Ethics. He has published in numerous medical, healthcare, psychology and psychotherapy journals and presented keynote and invited presentations at international and national conferences. He has run professional training workshops across Australia, the US, the Middle East and, mostly recently, in Tokyo, Japan (April, 2010 & Oct, 2011).

Michael was the foundation President of GANZ (Gestalt Australia & New Zealand), the peak body representing Gestalt Practitioners in this region of the world (1998-2000), and the Chair of the Association's Ethics Committee (1998-2006). He was awarded the honour of 'Fellow of GANZ' in 2006. He is a recipient of a NHMRC Travelling Fellowship and of the Professional Centre of Australia's 'Award for Excellence' for promoting the health of young people and families in the Pacific Region.

Michael's professional interests include understanding the relational aspects of the therapeutic experience and developing creative approaches to working with people - individuals, partners, families, groups and communities.

Michael is a keen follower of sport, has played rugby in Australia and the Middle East, attended countless netball games and watched or officiated at numerous athletic sporting events.

Michael runs a private psychology / psychotherapy practice in Crows Nest where he offers specialized psychological and psychotherapy services to adults, adolescents, couples and families as well as professional supervision, workshops and seminars.
